Origin

The 2500-year-old game of polo remains one of the most exciting team sports in the world, and you may
be surprised to find out how easy it is to get involved.
The origins of polo are in the inspirational relationship between humans and horses. Sustaining this special bond is the fundamental reason polo has enjoyed 2,000 years of recorded history.
The unique blending of athletic talents between horse and rider helped polo evolve into The Sport of Kings.

Despite the public perception of polo as sport that only the extremely wealthy can enjoy, today many
players of more modest means enjoy the game.
You can rent horses to learn to play on, and begin participating in matches with just one horse. That said, it
has been noted that polo ponies are like potato chips and, before you know it, one has turned into four!
Arena polo is a modified version of the game with three players on a side. Buckingham Polo Club boasts a
magnificent fullsize polo arena where polo is played every weekend – “Friday Night Polo – under the stars”
and “Sunday Polo”. Buckingham Polo arena practices go on year-round.

You can learn more about polo by visiting the U.S. Polo Assocation. Or, just call us at 239-288-5355 and set
up your first lesson!
Buckingham Polo Club offers complete year-round polo services for beginner, intermediate and advanced
players.

Players new to the sport are provided with horses, tack and instruction. Intermediate and advanced players
can refine their playing, riding or game skills as well as take advantage of boarding, horse leasing and
transportation services.
